Dear Killer

Who’s the sadistic killer knocking off residents on sleepy Dear Island, SC?

To keep busy, Marley Clark, a retired military intelligence officer, works security for a Sea Island resort and retirement community in the South Carolina Lowcountry. A single night patrol transforms the feisty widow’s yawner of a job into a deadly battle of wits when she finds an islander drowned and bobbing naked amid a potpourri of veggies in a Jacuzzi.

Each death pairs
with a grizzly pun.

Asked to serve as the lead investigator’s liaison, Marley is startled to discover she’s become Deputy Braden Mann’s target as well—for romance. Yet their steamy attraction doesn’t deter the pair from sorting through a viper’s nest of suspects as the body count grows and the pun-loving killer plans a gruesome epitaph. This time for Marley.

Will Marley have the last word?

swamp3DEAR KILLER is the first in a series of Marley Clark mysteries that promise to dish up heart-pounding suspense with a side of romance. To see where Marley’s path leads next click here. The sequel to DEAR KILLER is NO WAKE ZONE and it’s set in another of my favorite locationsSpirit Lake, Iowa.

Dear Killer’s heroine, Marley Clark, is smart, sexy, athletic, funny—
and over 50!

Who says heroes and heroines in their twenties and thirties should have all the fun —not to mention the romance? Spiral2

I know plenty of baby boomers who are fit enough to handle mostif not allof Marley’s physical feats, from running up a winding staircase in a lighthouse to paddling for her life in a kayak.

In fact, the way in which older protagonists are portrayed has prompted me to begin a research project smallkayaksto see if there’s been a real shift since the days of spinster busybodies like Miss Marple. With more baby boomer authors, I’m pretty sure there has been and will continue to be a shift.
